Katie is a passionate violin/fiddle teacher, performer, and recording artist in Brantford, Ontario. Katie’s main specialty is in fiddle music (bluegrass, country, old time, etc..) but she also teaches classical violin (Suzuki Method), pop, improvisation, and various other styles.
Katie Korfmann began playing the violin at the age of 5 years old with the Suzuki Violin Method. By 10 years old she discovered fiddle music which greatly sparked her interested in playing. She started professionally performing at the age of 13 and teaching by the age of 15.
Katie has a diploma in Early Childhood Education which gives her many resources when teaching the younger students. She runs the Early Childhood music classes throughout the year to help prepare the younger generation of musicians.
When teaching private lessons or group classes she customizes each lesson to the individual student to help them progress in a way that works for them. Learning correct techniques and songs in a fun environment is integrated into all of her lessons.

Testimonials
“We love Katie! She has been so patient at teaching our oldest for the past year and a half and has worked with him through his initial goofy and uncooperative stage. He really enjoys the balance of learning the basics and fundamentals of the instrument as well as being able to learn music of his choosing. I would highly recommend her to anyone and will definitely be putting my other two children into lessons with her if they choose to go with violin in the future.”
“Katie is a very talented musician and a gifted teacher. My daughter loves going to her lessons.”
“Katie is an extremely talented teacher with an extensive music background . She uses a lot of positive reinforcement in her classes. Katie has a pleasant quiet nature and is kind, very patient, respectful and helpful. Her teaching skills are very innovative and individualized. Classes are fun! When I began lessons at 73 years old I knew nothing about caring for or playing the fiddle. She has been a great mentor. Katie is very supportive and encourages her students to play in public by playing with them. Her students have a great deal of confidence in her. With her reputation, I highly recommend her to teach classical violin or fiddle.” - Pat
